Diabetes and Endocrinology
Diabetes is the most common disorder of the endocrine system – glands and parts of glands that help control the body's metabolic activity. The system includes the pituitary gland, thyroid gland, adrenal glands, pancreas, ovaries and testicles. Diabetes occurs when the body does not properly process food for energy. It is characterized by lack of the hormone insulin, which results in abnormally high levels of glucose in the blood.
