The UM Children's Hospital childhood cancer team treats a long list of cancers. Our experienced doctors and nurses can help you and your child navigate all treatment and care needs for your diagnosis.
Types of Cancers We Treat
Your child can get treatment for many types of cancer at UM Children's Hospital, including:
- Leukemia – Leukemia affects the blood cells. It starts in the bone marrow, where new blood cells are made.
- Hodgkin lymphoma – This affects the lymphatic system, part of the body's immune system.
- Non-Hodgkin lymphoma – These cancers can affect lymph nodes anywhere in the body.
- Neuroblastoma – This is a rare type of cancer starting in nerve cells.
- Renal tumors – Renal tumors are kidney tumors. There are many different types, some more aggressive than others.
- Soft tissue tumors – These tumors affect different areas of the body with soft tissue, like fat, cartilage and muscle.
- Bone tumors – These tumors start within bones, causing pain.
