Two Nurse Midwives Join Women's Health in White Plains

LA PLATA, Md. (February 25, 2025) — University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center, a member organization of the University of Maryland Medical System, announces the addition of two seasoned midwives, Cassandra Burrell, MS, CNM, and Jashia Pinkney, CNM, WHNP-BC, C-EFM, to its growing team. With a focus on providing compassionate and patient-centered care, this expansion strengthens the group’s commitment to meeting the diverse needs of women throughout Southern Maryland.
Burrell brings over 15 years of experience in maternal and women’s health, offering expertise across antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn care. A graduate of the Master of Science in Midwifery program and a certified nurse-midwife (CNM) with certification from the American Midwifery Certification Board, Burrell is passionate about delivering culturally competent care and empowering patients through education. She is an active member of the American College of Nurse Midwives and further serves her community through participation in organizations such as Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Inc.
Pinkney, a dual-certified nurse-midwife and women’s health nurse practitioner, joins the team with a strong background in full-scope midwifery care including advanced prenatal services, labor and delivery support and postpartum guidance. Pinkney earned her Master of Science in Nursing and has been recognized for her maternal health advocacy and dedication to mentoring future health care professionals. Her contributions extend beyond clinical care, including teaching at Georgetown University, presenting at international health conferences and engaging in community outreach initiatives.
