Laurel, Maryland, March 9, 2017 – The Laurel Regional Hospital Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine Center has been named a Center of Excellence by Healogics, the largest provider of advanced wound care services in the United States. Laurel Regional Hospital’s Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine Center achieved Center of Excellence status after being named as a Center of Distinction for two consecutive years.

Um Laurel Medical Center is one of only four centers in Maryland, and the only one in the Baltimore/Washington corridor to receive the Center of Excellence distinction. The Laurel Regional Hospital Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine Center achieved outstanding clinical outcomes for 24 consecutive months, exceeding the benchmarks required by Healogics for designation. The center’s care team achieved a 93 percent patient satisfaction rate, 94 percent healing rate and 21 median days to heal.

“The team at UM Laurel Medical Center ranks among the national leaders in wound care services,” says Trudy Hall, interim president and vice president of medical affairs at Laurel Regional Hospital. “This award attests to our commitment to providing the highest level of service to our wound care patients who rely on our expertise. Hayward, M.D., medical director of the Laurel Regional Hospital Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine Center. “We are proud to be designated as a Center of Excellence based on our remarkable patient satisfaction and outcomes, most notably a 94 percent healing rate.
