Get in on the Ground Floor

UM Capital Region Health is more than half way through the construction of our new UM Capital Region Medical Center, a new, state-of-the-art hospital facility in Largo, MD. On track to open in April of 2021, our new Medical Center will feature a dedicated Heart and Vascular Institute (HVI) which will be a center of excellence in heart care in Prince George’s County.

Our new HVI will encompass the latest technology for diagnosis and treatment of heart and vascular disease. The Institute builds on our current cardiac services (cath and EP labs, chest pain management, cardiac rehab, etc.) to offer a wider range of cardiac, thoracic and vascular surgery, advanced procedures such as complex PCI, TAVR and ablations as well as specialty clinics for lipid and anti-coagulation, heart failure devices, PE Response teams and more.

Our current staff and new hires will be integral to creating the protocols and procedures now to provide exceptional care in our current hospital and prepare for the delivery of exceptional care in our new home.

New to the Area?

Prince George’s County may be thought of as a bedroom community for Washington, DC, but it is much more than that. The county’s 915K residents enjoy a high average household income of $106K per year which affords them the opportunity to take advantage of the many outdoor parks, museums, performing arts centers, amusements parks, casinos and nightlife that abound throughout the county. The NASA Goddard Space Flight Center offers public tours to rival the Air and Space Museum (which is also close by). Street fairs, farmers’ markets, arts and crafts shows and health expos happen throughout the year throughout the county to provide a great opportunity to socialize with and get to know your neighbors.

And if that’s not enough, Prince George’s County is centrally located between a few other locales of note. For foodies, it’s a short 45 minute drive to Baltimore which is known for their seafood restaurants. For boaters, it’s a short 30 minute drive to Annapolis with all their sail and power boats. If you want more culture, theater, opera, ballet or just more phenomenal museums, Washington, DC is right next door and accessible by car as well as public transportation.

The best part is that UM Capital Region Health’s Heart and Vascular Institute offers enough work-life balance to afford you the time to take advantage of all the area has to offer.
