UM Capital Region Medical Center offers free HEP C testing in our Emergency Department.

What is Hepatitis C?

Hepatitis C, also called Hep C or HCV, is a virus that causes inflammation of the liver. Most people who get Hepatitis C develop a chronic, or lifelong, infection. If not treated, it can cause serious health problems including liver damage, liver failure, liver cancer or even death. It is a silent killer, with no real symptoms, but Hep C can be treated if caught early.
