The UM Capital Region Health Comprehensive Breast Program treats non-cancerous and cancerous breast conditions.

Breast cancer continues to be a concern in Maryland, and no more so than in Prince George’s County and Southern Maryland, particularly among women of color.

African American women diagnosed with breast cancer in Prince George’s County have a higher mortality rate than white women in the county and women in general across the state.

The program is led by Dr. Katerina Tsiapali, a fellowship-trained breast surgeon with years of experience in treating all types and stages of breast cancer in both women and men.

She works with area radiation and medical oncologists to create personalized care plans for her patients and address issues of health equity throughout the region.

Dr. Tsiapali sees patients in Bowie and Annapolis.
