GLEN BURNIE, MD – UM Baltimore Washington Medical Center (UM BWMC) has received the American College of Cardiology Foundation’s NCDR ACTION Registry Platinum Performance Achievement Award for 2017. The award recognizes UM BWMC’s commitment and success in implementing a higher standard of care for heart attack patients, and signifies that the medical center has reached an aggressive goal of treating these patients to standard levels of care as outlined by the American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association clinical guidelines and recommendations.

To receive the ACTION Registry Platinum Performance Achievement Award, UM BWMC consistently followed the treatment guidelines in the ACTION Registry Premier for eight consecutive quarters and met a performance standard of 90% for specific performance measures. Adhering to these treatment guidelines improves drug safety monitoring and the overall quality of care provided to ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) and non- ST- elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) patients.

“We thank the American College of Cardiology Foundation for honoring us with this award for the second time in three years,” said Deborah Hall, MSN, MBA, RN, CCNS, CPHQ, FACHE, Vice President, Quality & Patient Safety at UM BWMC. “Our goal is to not only provide the same quality of care to our cardiac patients but to also evolve and provide the latest techniques in improving lives and decreasing risk and complications.”
