GLEN BURNIE, MD – University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center (UM BWMC) has named Sonia Hamlin as the medical center’s new director of marketing and communications. Ms. Hamlin comes to UM BWMC from the University of Maryland Medical Center Midtown Campus where she served as marketing and communications director. Her previous experience includes marketing, communications, strategic planning and community programs development.

“I’m excited to join the team at UM BWMC and look forward to being involved in our community,” said Ms. Hamlin. “I am eager to work and interact with the medical center’s physicians, nurses and staff.”

Ms. Hamlin will oversee the medical center’s marketing, advertising, internal and external communications and community relations.

“We are happy to welcome Sonia to the UM BWMC family,” said Chief Operating Officer and Senior Vice President of Clinical Integration Kathleen McCollum. “Sonia’s marketing and communications background and knowledge of the marketplace are valuable assets to UM BWMC.”

Ms. Hamlin received her bachelor's degree from Morgan State University and her master’s degree in Communications from the Virginia Commonwealth University.
