UM BWMC Debuts New Mobile Care Service to Anne Arundel County Residents
GLEN BURNIE, MD – University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center (UM BWMC) is announcing a new home-based emergency service available to Anne Arundel County residents that offers same-day medical care. Individuals who are not able to travel to a physician's office, emergency department or urgent care center and need medical treatment, will be able to contact UM BWMC's Mobile Care team that travels to their location.
“There are instances where an emergency will happen, whether someone sustains a laceration to their hand preparing dinner that requires stitches or a burn to the arm while ironing clothing that needs urgent medical attention,” said Chirag Chaudhari, M.D., F.A.C.E.P., chair of emergency medicine at UM BWMC. “Mobile Care allows patients to receive prompt, high-quality care in the comfort of his or her own home or workplace in a timely manner.”
A UM BWMC physician or advanced practice provider will arrive at the home or workplace and diagnose and treat the person requiring care. Providers are able to diagnose and treat non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries, which includes the following:
* Burns, rashes and bites
* Colds, coughs, strep throat and flu
* Cuts and bruises
* Eye injuries
* Fracture diagnosis and initial treatment
* Headaches and earaches
* Laceration repair and abscess treatment
* Mild nausea, vomiting and diarrhea
* Sprains and strains
* Suture and staple removal
