Preventing Vascular Disease

Our physicians may recommend a routine test for you in our non-invasive vascular lab if you have certain risk factors:

  • Diabetes
  • Family history of vascular disease
  • High blood cholesterol
  • High blood pressure
  • Over 50 (particularly men)
  • Prior stroke
  • Smoking

We will also recommend a test in our lab if they notice something irregular on a routine exam. If testing shows mild or moderate vascular problem, we can prevent it from worsening through comprehensive vascular care and regular follow-up.

Our patients may also participate in one of our free comprehensive vascular screenings.

Patient Education

Many serious vascular problems can be prevented by the right combination of medical therapy and lifestyle changes. This includes diet, exercise, quitting smoking and keeping blood pressure, cholesterol and diabetes under control.

Patients and their families receive detailed information about their condition, including an explanation of tests, necessary treatments and follow-up plans. Our staff is always available to answer any questions you have about vascular disease to keep you healthy.

Community Outreach

Our community vascular screening program is an active outreach to our local and regional community. At these programs, all participants receive educational materials about major vascular problems as well as their diagnosis and treatments. Whenever possible, we partner with community-based groups to provide the continual education opportunities.
